At Navigating Baby we are committed to ensuring the privacy of all of our visitors.  Our privacy policy explains why and when we collect personal information or data; how we use it, circumstances under which we may disclose it to others and how we maintain its security.

This policy was updated on 21st May 2018.  Should it be updated in the future we will post any changes on this page so please do check back regularly

Who are we?

Navigating Baby is a parenting blog that is written by Kirsty and Daniel about their family and parenting experiences.

At Navigating Baby we comply with GDPR, by keeping personal data up to date; by storing and destroying it securely; by not collecting or retaining excessive amounts of data; by protecting personal data from loss, misuse, unauthorised access and disclosure and by ensuring that appropriate technical measures are in place to protect personal data.

Outline of the Privacy Policy

We are committed to protecting your privacy and this policy outlines what information we collect from you, how it is collected, why it is being collected, how it will be used and who it will be shared with. We do not sell your information to any third parties and do not intend to do so in the future. Our policy lays out:

How do we collect information from you?

We collect and use your Personal Information in accordance with this Privacy Policy.  Your personal information can be obtained when you:

  • Subscribe to our mailing list
  • Contact us with a query or a complaint

Information We Collect

In running and maintaining our website we may collect and process the following data about you:

  • Anonymous information about your use of our site including details of your visits such as pages viewed and the resources that you access. Such information includes traffic data, location data and other communication data and is completely non- personally identifiable
  • Information provided voluntarily by you. For example, when you subscribe to our mailing list or make a comment on a blog post
  • Information that you provide when you communicate with us by any means

Use of Cookies

Cookies provide information regarding the computer used by a visitor. We may use cookies where appropriate to gather information about your computer in order to assist us in improving our website.

We may gather information about your general internet use by using the cookie. Where used, these cookies are downloaded to your computer and stored on the computer’s hard drive. Such information will not identify you personally. It is statistical data. This statistical data does not identify any personal details whatsoever

You can adjust the settings on your computer to decline any cookies if you wish. This can easily be done by activating the reject cookies setting on your computer.

Our advertisers may also use cookies, over which we have no control. Such cookies (if used) would be downloaded once you click on advertisements on our website.

Analytics – eg how visitors use our website

We use Google Analytics to store information about how visitors use our website so that we may make improvements and give visitors a better user experience.

Google Analytics is a third-party information storage system that records information about the pages you visit, the length of time you were on specific pages and the website in general, how you arrived at the site and what you clicked on when you were there. These cookies do not store any personal information about you eg name, address etc and you cannot be identified by this data. We do not share the data. You can view their privacy policy below:

 IP addresses

An IP or Internet Protocol Address is a unique numerical address assigned to a computer as it logs on to the internet. Navigating Baby does not have access to any personal identifiable information and we would never seek this information. Your IP address is logged when visiting our site, but our analytic software only uses this information to track how many visitors we have from particular regions.

 How we use your Personal Information:

Comments

If you complete the form in order to leave a comment the name you enter will be shown publicly.  Your email address will not be shown.  If you also choose to leave your website URL the public will be able to click directly through to your website.

This information is stored on our site (on servers that are secure and encrypted), but is only used for adding your comments and you will not be added to any mailing lists or contacted by Navigating Baby

If you would like to remove your comments from Navigating baby at any time please email kirsty@navigatingbaby.com

Subscription to Navigating Baby

If you choose to subscribe to Navigating baby using the form in the footer or sidebar you will be added to our Navigating Baby email mailing list. Your information will not be shared anywhere else, but we do use a third-party server called MailChimp to store data and coordinate mass emails.  You can view their privacy policy here:  https://mailchimp.com/legal/privacy/

Your data will not be visible to other subscribers on the mailing list and will not be sold or shared with anyone else unless we are required to do so by law.

By subscribing you will receive notifications of our new posts as well as a regular newsletter.

If you would like to unsubscribe at any time, either click the “unsubscribe” link at the bottom of our emails, or send an email to kirsty@navigatingbaby.com and we will remove you from this list and delete your data.

Competitions

In order to run giveaways and competitions, we need to collect personal information such as your name, email address, and social media handles. We use Rafflecopter for our competitions and giveaways.  Please click here to review their privacy policy before entering a competition on Navigating Baby: https://www.rafflecopter.com/privacy-policy

Information submitted during competition and giveaway entries is not shared publicly excepting for the winner’s name which is displayed on the Rafflecopter widget.  This is included in the competition terms and conditions.   Please not the winner’s name and email address will also be shared with the sponsor so that prizes can be sent.

Please read the terms and conditions of each individual competition carefully before entering so that you are aware of how your personal information will be used.

Navigating Baby will only use the information submitted for the giveaway. You will not be added to our mailing list nor will we contact you for any other reason aside from the giveaway/ competition unless you have also subscribed to the mailing list.

Once the winner’s details are passed to the brand sponsor you will be covered by their privacy policy and Navigating Baby is no longer responsible for your details once they are submitted to the brand.

Linky

Navigating Baby hosts on the #DreamTeam linky.  Dream Team uses a company called InLinkz to host their weekly linky party. You will be asked to provide an email address so that we know who has added the post to the linky and contact you in case of issues.  Your email address will not be used for any other purpose.  Your email address is held at InLinkz and visible only the hosts of Dream Team.  You can view the InLinkz privacy policy here: https://www.inlinkz.com/new/privacy.php

Please note that when you add the website URL, a link is created from the host sites mentioned above to the website address you have provided.

How do we protect your information?

All details and documents are stored on a secure server which is password protected and encrypted or with third party providers where indicated above.

Should you send us an email please note that the Internet can never be guaranteed to be 100% secure. As a result, while we strive to protect your personal information, we cannot guarantee the security of any information you transmit to us, and you do so at your own risk. Once we receive your information, we make our best effort to ensure its security on our systems.

Your rights

Should you wish to see what personal information we hold about you; this can be requested in writing at any time.  Please do so by emailing kirsty@navigatingbaby.com or filling in the online contact form on the website.

If you believe we’re holding inaccurate information about you, please contact us by email kirsty@navigatingbaby.com

You have the right to ask for a copy of the information Navigating Baby holds about you (we may charge £10 for information requests) to cover our costs in providing you with details of the information we hold about you.

Third Party Links:

Navigating Baby is only responsible for its own content. On occasion we include links to third parties on this website and include affiliate links from time to time (clearly indicated – see disclaimer). This does imply an endorsement of the company or that we approve their policy towards visitor privacy. You should review their privacy policy before sending any personal data.

Once you leave our site you are no longer covered by our privacy policy and we cannot be held responsible for any information collected by these sites

Your Consent
