Mother’s Day Gift Ideas

Mother's Day GiftsI find the older someone gets the harder it is to buy them gifts.  We do all tend to accumulate so much stuff that it can be hard to give something original.  Then when the person you are buying for is your mother (lets face it most of us have a lot to be thanking our mothers for) and it is Mother’s Day then it can be even trickier.  How do you sum up (in my case) 40 odd years of love in a gift?  So I have given up trying to buy something meaningful and instead I have started going for things that are a little bit more unusual or personalised.  So I was thrilled when the Gift Experience got in touch and offered me the chance to pick a gift from their vast Mother’s Day collection.

THIS POST CONTAINS AFFILIATE LINKS

Full disclosure people; I have been given a choice of a gift from the Gift Experience so that I could experience their service and the quality of products, but as ever opinions and thoughts are my own.  Also as my mother reads my blog (or at least she had better be reading it :))  this item will not be her actual gift as I didn’t want to spoil her mother’s day by publicizing it here first!

Mothers Day Gifts

Who are The Gift Experience?

The Gift Experience are a UK based family run business which looks to bring its customers the best gift ideas possible and delivering them direct to their door.  The Gift Experience specialize in personalised items many of which are designed by them so cannot be purchased anywhere else.  However, they also offer adrenaline filled experience days, pamper days, hotel breaks and food and drink experiences all of which could be perfect for a Mother’s day gift. They have literally thousands of gifts available and there is something to suit all budgets.

What do they offer for Mother’s Day?

The Gift Experience have a section devoted to Mother’s Day on their website and you can get everything from personalised cushions, to glass ware, photo frames, jewelry, aprons, candles…. Honestly if you can think of it they probably personalise it.  The choice is amazing!  However, the website is spilt into categories and they have even put together a top 20 Mother’s Day gift section so you can really narrow down your search quickly.  You can also sort products by price and just look at items within your budget which is great as it really cuts down on the amount of time you need to spend looking for the perfect Mother’s Day Gift.

Prices on the Mother’s Day gifts start at as little as £6.99 for a personalised Wooden Spoon  and there are some lovely cushions that come in for only around £15

What do I like about personalised gifts?

I always think that when a gift is personalised it makes it that little bit extra special especially if you can work in something that is unique to the person when you write the words for the personalisation.  It shows that you thought about it and in a world where we all tend to have lots of material possessions I think it just means more.  It almost doesn’t matter if you already have a similar piece of jewellery or already have lots of candles;  the personalised one becomes special.  As the person giving the gift you are genuinely thinking more about the person you are buying for if you are personalizing their gift and I love that idea.  It seems to work especially well for a Mother’s Day gift when there is so much to say to our mothers.  It seems only fitting to want to personalise with a thought about your mum on this special day.  Well I know I love to receive a personalised gift from my children and even more so now that they are old enough to actually have come up with the personalisation themselves.

My Experience

It really was a case of decisions decisions as there were so many lovely gifts to choose from, but ultimately I chose something practical and super decorative.  I went for the My Deli Personalised Slate Board and Condiment Set which retails at £45.  The gift arrived well packaged and padded so that it wouldn’t get damaged and the delivery was really very quick especially considering that it had to be personalised.  I chose this as I really wanted something that would be used by the whole family and that everyone would get enjoyment out of.  We do love a family BBQ and always start with bread, oil and vinegar so this seemed rather perfect for us.  Now you might think the personalisation that I chose a little odd….  You would probably be right, but this comes from an Italian proverb which says that

‘Oil, Salt, Vinegar and Pepper would make even a pair of boots taste good’

Condiment set

If you had ever seen my family consume these condiments then you would know that in our case we very much feel that to be true.  I am delighted with the condiment set and think it  looks so great on the table.  It also seems really good quality with great fittings of stoppers, for example, and well secured handles.  I love the shape of the bottles and I hope it will be something that our family will use for years to come. Now bring on the Summer so we can get out the salads and breads and get using this fabulous set.

Thank you to the gift experience for my mother’s day gift now all I need to do is get back on the website and order my mother’s gift, but I will keep that one a secret for now…

    1. I have a mug made by each of my kids and I hide them away so they can’t break them. I can’t wait until they are old enough that I can risk actually using them ha ha!
